This item comes with four brushes: a baby kabuki, an eye shading, a mineral powder and concealer brush. They are relatively small… all the brushes, minus the baby kabuki one, are about four and three-quarters inches long. The baby kabuki brush is only about three inches long. I find that I like the compact-size of these brushes, and it suits my needs, but the size is probably not for everyone.

The metal is made from recycled aluminum, the cosmetic bag is made from natural cotton (45%) and hemp (55% hemp linen). This product is unfortunately made in China… I only say unfortunately on my part, because I really try to go out of my way now to support products that are made in the US.

Overall, I think these brushes are great! They are very soft, and if anyone has had a cheaply made brush you know that they will prickle your skin and the bristles will even shed onto your just made-up face. So far I haven’t had the shedding problem, and all four brushes have not given me any pokes!

I did however not buy this online. I went to a local Walgreens (first went to a CVS, but they didn’t carry this brand), and was able to purchases it for 11.99 + tax. So I would just keep that in mind, if you’re not willing to wait/pay shipping and handling and an extra buck for this item.

    EDIT:

I thought I should also add that I use a different pouch than the one provided. To me, it is a bit too cramped to fit all the brushes in comfortably, without “ruffling” the bristles.

These brushes do a wonderful job of applying makeup. I am amazed that they are so reasonably priced and ecologically friendly. They are better, in my opinion, than the expensive brushes with animal fur.

I was impressed at how well these brushes apply makeup considering how inexpensive they were. They also do not ‘bleed’ dye when you wash them which is very typical of cheap makeup brushes. My only complaint is that they are a little small but overall I would recommend these to a friend.

This company has yet to disappoint. The brushes are incredibly soft. The taklon bristles are amazing. This eco-friendly set is available at a great price and i love that they use recycled aluminum and bamboo. The brushes are thick and dense. i love that you can reuse the packaging for travel. They are also super easy to clean. No worry about bacteria in the cuticle as with taklon it does not exist like with animal hair brushes.

The cotton and hemp travel case is nice but i prefer the green packaging better.i highly recommend this to anybody looking for great alternatives to sable brushes and brushes that are not so expensive.

I bought this brush set the other day for $13.80 + tax. Today I went to Duane Reade and they’re selling it for $11.99 + tax comes out to be less than $13. That and you receive the product instantly instead of waiting for Amazon to take 4 weeks to get it to you, so if you’re getting this product definitely check out your local drugstores. In regards to the product I saw at Duane Reade, the Kabuki brush can’t really be considered as a kabuki brush. It’s tiny about half an inch in diameter and has less “fur” than an eyeshadow brush, very sparse fur too. The only good point about it is it’s soft. When I get the brush I’ll try applying with it and see how manageable it is with the sparseness and update accordingly.

    Edit: 5/16/2009

I got the brush 2 days ago (finally). The kabuki brush is the same I saw in Duane Reade. The brush was already distorted (flat) and refused to stay round even with a 24 hour shaping. The kabuki doesn’t pick up product evenly. It tends to focus on the center and as you try to build more product into the brush the brush won’t hold the powder. After one round of layering the mineral foundation onto my face using circular motions, the brush became extremely distorted. I think the handle just doesn’t clip the brush that well.

I got this for the kabuki and I thought the other pieces were nice add-ons, but it really doesn’t do the job. For $13 you can get a very nice kabuki and that’s probably what I’ll do.
